Pei Pei and Hao Hao have been seeing Christmas trees around, and we decided to have a Christmas tree at home! Our DIY Christmas tree does not cost a lot of money, and there are many teachable moments during the process!
Material:
Construction paper
Scissors
Glue stick
Scotch tape
Colour pencil
Markers (from Ikea, one end has stamp)
Supermarket Christmas catalogue (Free!)
Step 1: Use green and brown construction paper to make the tree. The kids learn / revise about shapes and colours.
Step 2: Draw and stamp on the circular paper. No specific theme for the drawing, just let them draw whatever they like.
Step 3: Decorate the tree with the circles from Step 2, and relevant pictures cut from the catalogue. Learn about counting and words (name of items related to Christmas). For Pei Pei, she also learns about simple addition and subtraction through questions e.g. You have 2 circles, MaMi gives you 1 circle, how many circles do you have now?
