Our first project with tissue paper - making a flower!
Our first project with tissue paper - making a flower!
Materials for this project:
- Tissue paper
- Pipe cleaner / Chenille stem
- Scissors
Just seven steps and you'll have a beautiful flower!
Step 1: Cut 4-6 pieces of tissue paper, each about 15cm x 15cm
Step 2: Stack the pieces of tissue paper, and fold about 1.5cm from one edge
Step 3: Continue to make accordion fold
Step 4: Secure the centre using pipe cleaner / chenille stem
Step 5: Cut the edges in desired shape (we cut round shape for this flower)
Step 6: Open up the "fan"
Step 7: Carefully separate the layers one by one
In addition, we made a vase using toilet roll to hold the flower.
Making accordion folds helps children in developing fine motor skills and concentration. The separation of layers of tissue paper is quite challenging for younger children, so daddies and mummies, please help in this step!
