The two lady founders of Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林 quit their jobs to pursue their dream of having a lavender land. Their courage inspired me, and I would like to take a look at how their dream looks like!
At the entrance of Lavender Cottage at Xin She District of Taichung, we could feel the calmness and peace.
The admission ticket is NT150 each, and each ticket consists of two pieces of NT50 vouchers which can be used to offset the cost of food, beverage and merchandise. On the other side of the ticket, there is a map cum activity sheet. At each check point, we would receive a stamp upon completing a specific task. A gift would be given upon collecting all stamps. I read somewhere that the gift is a lavender seed. Anyway, I couldn't verify what the gift actually was as we did not complete the activity sheet, because some tasks required us to spend money.
Well, please do not expect to see lavender fields like those in Hokkaido (Japan) or Provence (France). It was a pity that the direction of light in the late morning was not good for photo-taking at this spot.
Anyway, many other lovely photo-taking spots made this place a popular attraction.
As we walked further up the hill, we met many Singaporean tourists - the queue at the cafe was made up of Singaporeans! We used the vouchers to get lavender ice-cream. Quite an interesting taste!
We spent almost an hour strolling in Lavender Cottage.
Before we left the place, we used the remaining vouchers to get two small lavender scent bags.
Lavender Cottage is quite a relaxing place for people to take a break from the bustling city. It is not accessible by bus or train, so you have to take a taxi or hire private driver. In addition, the winding road leading to this remote place may cause discomfort. So do take these into consideration especially when you are bringing young children and elderly along.
