Japan Travel: Osaka: Cup Noodles Museum Osaka Ikeda

3 months before we visited Cup Noodles Museum Osaka Ikeda (Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum), I booked the chicken ramen making workshop at 9 a.m. Singapore time (Japan 10 a.m.), and shortly after that, most slots were taken! So you can see how popular this workshop is!

From Osaka, we took Osaka Metro to Umeda Station, where we walked to Hankyu Railway to take Takarazuka Line to Ikeda Station. It was just a few minutes walk from Ikeda Station to Cup Noodles Museum. 

There were students from the local schools having excursion when were were there, so it was quite crowded. We first went to the registration counter to make payment for the chicken ramen making workshop, and we were given our station number.

Though the instructor of our group does not speak English, we were able to follow through with her body language and the English instruction sheet. 

We worked in pairs, from kneading the dough, to thinning and cutting the dough using noodle maker, as well as adding seasoning This reminded me of our ramen making class in Kyushu. But this time round, the steaming and deep-frying of noodles were done by the staff. 

While we were waiting for our instant noodles to be cooked, we decorated our packaging. Once the noodles were ready, we were called out one by one to receive our own noodles, and got to try some bits of noodles. We brought home not just the noodles that we made, but also one more packet of instant noodles and a cute bandana! At the cost of 500 yen per adult and 300 yen per child, I thought this was a steal!

After the workshop, we visited the exhibition of instant noodles. There were some interactive stations for us to learn about the history of instant noodles.

Did you know that astronauts can enjoy instant noodles in space too?

Of course, another highlight of the visit was to make our own cup noodles. We purchased the cup from vending machine (300 yen per cup).

After sanitising our hands, we decorated our cup with the markers provided, then we joined the long queue to customise our cup noodles. We could choose the soup base and 4 ingredients.

Finally we placed our cup noodles into "air package" using air pump.

We enjoyed Cup Noodles Museum Osaka Ikeda very much! Remember to book the chicken ramen making workshop 3 months in advance, please note that the online booking is available in Japanese only.
