Tokyo, Mt Fuji Travel Day 4 Ueno Park

After the day-long rain on the previous day (read our Day 3 travelogue here), the weather on day 4 of our trip turned great! We went to Ueno Onshi Park 上野恩賜公園 in the morning to see the autumn foliage.

I thought we would not be able to view the cherry blossom in Japan as the children do not have school holiday in late March to early April. Guess what, we saw winter cherry blossom outside Kiyomizu Kannon-do 清水観音堂!

There was actually one and only one winter cherry blossom tree, but we took a long time to take photos! It is rather interesting to see cherry blossom among the autumn foliage.

During winter, Shinobazuno Pond 不忍池 is filled with withered lotus leaves.

Ueno Zoo is located next to Ueno Park. We did not visit the zoo this time as we had to go for our cooking class. I recalled that when I visited Ueno Zoo many years ago to see the panda, it was sleeping! If you are interested to visit Ueno Zoo, the admission fee is 600 yen for adult, 300 yen for seniors above 65 years old, 200 yen for high school students, and it is free for children.
