DIY Family Photo Frame with Canon Pixma Printer

[Sponsored Post]

On our "Wall of Memories" in our living room, there are photos that we took during our dating days, on our wedding day, and yes, photos of our children. But family photo of four of us? There are only two, and oh dear, those were taken 4+ years ago! So we made a DIY family photo frame to update our "Wall of Memories"!

We have taken many family photos using my smartphone. Thanks to Canon PIXMA photo printer, now printing photos from my smartphone is so easy. I downloaded PIXMA Printing Solutions App on my smartphone, just a few clicks, and yeah! Our family photo is printed beautifully on Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II!

Materials for the DIY photo frame:
  • A4 size pattern paper (we printed from Canon Creative Park)
  • 3D sticker ribbon (we also printed from Canon Creative Park)
  • 21 cm x 21 cm cardboard x 2
  • Toilet paper rolls x 4
  • Scissors
  • Pen knife
  • White glue
  • Glue stick
  • Washi tapes (optional)
  • OHP transparency (optional)

Methods:

Step 1:
Press the toilet paper rolls flat, cut each one lengthwise on two sides, and cut off the corners as shown.

Step 2:
Apply white glue to the edges of the cut toilet paper rolls, and paste on one of the cardboards as shown.

Step 3:
Fold the A4 size pattern paper in half width-wise, and fold into half width-wise again to get four equal rectangles. Cut out the four pieces. For each piece, cut trapezium shape such that it covers two toilet paper rolls. Use glue stick to paste the pattern paper on the toilet paper rolls.

Step 4:
Cut out the centre square of the cardboard with pen-knife. Decorate the frame using 3D sticker ribbon and Washi tapes. Turn to the back and apply glue stick on the three edges except the top of the frame (for inserting photo), and paste another cardboard.

The photo frame is done! You can now insert the photo and may insert a piece of OHP transparency to protect the photo.
