Though my children enjoy reading, they usually read only a few genres of books. I tried to encourage them to read more varieties of books, however, they had some resistance to my suggestion. Recently, I was introduced to Storytime magazine published by ILoveReading.Sg. I think that it is a brilliant idea to pack fairy tales, myths, poems, fables and so on in a single magazine, so that the children can be exposed to various types of stories!
Targeted at young readers, every issue of Storytime includes five classic stories, one or two poems and an extract from a favourite children’s book. In fact, I have not provided opportunity for my children to read poems, and I am glad that Storytime has this element.
One thing that I like about this publication is the vibrant and colourful illustration. My children do not like to read books with only text, so the lovely illustrations of the publication attract them to read.
Our children enjoy the activities, puzzles and games at the back of the magazine. After reading the stories, both of them would play game together!
Storytime is published in January, March, May, July, September and November, you can get a yearly subscription from ILoveReading.Sg.
