Learning through play is an important part of child development, therefore, I am very careful when I choose toys and games for my children. I usually look for educational toys and games which are designed to develop children in different skills, for example, motor skills, social-emotional development, problem solving skills, and so on.

The kind folks from TOYTAG recommended us an entry-level educational robot, Makeblock mBot, and sent us a set to try out. The children were very excited when mBot was delivered to our place and they couldn't wait to play with it!
What are the benefits of educational toys like mBot?
1. Develop motor skills
The children learnt about different tools, screws and nuts, as well as skill in simple mechanical assembly.
2. Improve problem solving skills
Using the mBlock app, the children were able to control the mBot via Bluetooth. The design of the app is very thoughtful, through stage-by-stage game tasks, the children learnt different types of commands to control the robot and developed logical thinking.

3. Develop social-emotional skills
Though they had some difficulty in completing a few tasks, they did not give up easily, they helped each other along the way.
4. Improve cognitive skills
With mBot, the children also learnt about different types of sensors, which allowed the robot to avoid obstacles, follow a path, sense the strength of light, and so on. Instead of just having fun, the children learnt about how the robot worked.
5. Enhance interest
My children are now getting more interested in robotics, they have been creating different instructions for mBot!
