"Why?" As a parent, you would have heard this question from your child many millions times!
Curiosity is important in our lives, as it makes us learn and grow. As a parent, how do we develop curiosity in our children?
Curiosity is important in our lives, as it makes us learn and grow. As a parent, how do we develop curiosity in our children?
1. Encourage questioning
After a long day of work or doing household chores, it may be a dread to hear your child asking you "what" and "why". Instead of ignoring them, try to address your child's question, or tell your child to ask the question later when you are not so busy. This encourages the child to be willing to ask questions.
2. Expose our children to different experiences
Try out different activities with your child. That does not mean that you have to bring them all around the world. Even cooking, doing household chores and playing toys can spark curiosity in the children.
3. Read on various topics
Encourage your child to read books of different topics. There are books that are informative, and there are books that contain instructions and materials for children to learn through hands-on activities.
Our children are currently reading the following books from Scholastic, they are learning about making stop-motion movie using LEGO, and about Hawaii where they have not been to before.
