On our second day of our Japan trip, we travelled from Osaka to Kobe. The highlights of the day are Kidzania Koshien and Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum. Kobe is easily accessible by either Hanshin Railway or Hankyu Railway from Osaka. We bought Hanshin Railway 1 Day Tourist Pass at 500 yen (~SGD6). Though there is no child version of the pass, we still purchased for our children as it is cheaper than getting single trip tickets.
We took Hanshin Railway to Koshien Station (甲子園). If you are a fan of baseball, you can check out Koshien Stadium which is located near to the train station.
Kidzania Koshien has different system as compared to Kidzania Singapore. At Kidzania Koshien, there are two shifts daily (morning 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; afternoon 4 - 9 p.m.), and there is a programme called "English Wednesday" when everyone has to speak English. "English Wednesday" takes place in the afternoon shift, but we went there in the morning to purchase the admission tickets, as well as to obtain a queue number. Yes, in order to take part in the popular activities, it is necessary to get the queue number in advance so that the children can enter the place earlier, and go to the first pavilion that they want to try.
After that, we took the train to Sumiyoshi Station (住吉). Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum is just a few minutes walk from the station. We learnt about the process of making sake in the past and present through the videos and exhibits.
One of the highlights of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum is free tasting! They offer 5 different types of sake for us to try. I personally like the sweet and fruity yuzu sake. Of course our children did not get to try the sake!
After that, we took the train back to Koshien Station. As I mentioned earlier. we obtained the queue number for Kidzania Koshien earlier in the morning. The staff let the visitors enter Kidzania group by group, and everyone entered in an orderly manner.
The children had already planned what careers they wanted to try before the trip, so once they went in, they headed towards Sushi Restaurant, where they became Sushi Chef. This is not available in Kidzania Singapore!
Hao Hao tried out activities that were related to driving - pilot, train operator, farmer operating a tractor, and so on. On the other hand, Pei Pei was interested in cooking, so she went for activities at the bakery, sweet factory, salad shop and so on.
So what can the parents do while the children are busy working? We could have relaxed at the parents' lounge, but we decided to follow the children to take photos and videos of them busy at work!
The children were thrilled to receive the kidZos (currency at Kidzania) aka the salary after the hard work.
Tips at Kidzania Koshien:
Tips #1:
If you are going for the morning shift, be there early! If you are going for the afternoon shift, remember to take the queue number earlier in the day.
Tips #2:
Check out the sign board displayed outside each pavillion to indicate the suitable age, duration of activity, capacity and amount of kidZos to be earned or spent.
Tips #3
Each child receives a job schedule card, so they can make a reservation at the pavillion and come back at a later time. Please note that only one reservation can be made at one time.
